Shamita Shetty made her silver screen debut with the role of ‘Ishika’ in Yash Raj Film’s movie ‘Mohabbatein’ (2001). Soon after Shamita starred in a few hit dance numbers in Bollywood movies which include, ‘Sharara Sharara’ in ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’ (2002), ‘Chori Pe Chori’ in ‘Saathiya’ (2002) and ‘Mind Blowing Mahiya’ in ‘Cash’ (2007).

Her breakthrough role came as ‘Sonia Mehra’ in the movie ‘Zeher’ (2005)  opposite Emraan Hashmi. Her work in Bollywood includes films ‘Fareb’, ‘Bewafaa’ (2005), and ‘Cash’ (2007).

Shamita rose to prominence after her hiatus through the reality TV show, ‘Bigg Boss’ Season 15 (2021), where she finished as the second runner-up. She has also participated in Colors TV's stunt reality show ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi’, ending up as the third runner-up. She made her OTT debut with Voot's comedy web series ‘Yo Ke Hua Bro’ in 2017.

Shamita’s debut performance as ‘Ishika’ in ‘Mohabbatein’ won her the  IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female.

Why Shamita shetty?

Besides being an actress, Shamita believes in giving back to the community through her social acts. She has walked the ramp for the charity fashion show ‘Caring With Style’ to raise money for children suffering from cancer.

In 2013, she starred in ‘Betiyaan’, a government-initiated social cause music video for the ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign. Shamita also joined hands with ‘HelpAge India’, in 2018, an NGO that works for the welfare of the elderly. 

Shamita has endorsed brands like Pantene and has been associated with brands and companies like Aldo, Audi, and the IIFJAS Jewellery exhibition. Her style, along with her poised eloquence enhances any event/occasion she graces.
